Consider Resolution 18-27 Amending Facility Construction Fund Budget

Staff is requesting a budget amendment for a building assessment and space study.
As you know, staff has discussed utilizing a consultant to perform a building assessment and space study for City Hall, the public work administrative building and Fire Stations. At the time that the budget was in the process of being prepared, it was too preliminary to include in the document. Presently a number of firms have been interviewed to determine what assistance can be provided to the City for this analysis. The study would be performed in 2018 with provided recommendations to be included in the 2019 budget and ensuing years, depending on what modifications are required.
Although staff is not at the point of recommending a firm, a budget amendment is requested to allow for the process to begin as soon as possible allowing for the necessary work to proceed to include in the 2019 budget. A number of areas will be covered in the analysis including an assessment of the exterior building components including roofs, windows, ADA requirements, HVAC and sustainability as well as a interior space utilization and furniture replacement recommendations.
Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 18-27 Amending the 2018 Facilities Construction Fund.
Staff is recommending Council approve a $35,000 adjustment to the Facilities Construction Fund for the purpose of this study. However, it is expected that the actual costs will come in under $35,000.
