City Council Regular
Adopt Resolution 18-44, Amending Budget for Restaurant Equipment
Sharon Legg, Finance Director
Council is being asked to approve a budget amendment for the golf course restaurant for a blast chiller. The item has not been included in the 2018 Budget but is needed as soon as possible due to health safety concerns.
Staff is recommending the purchase of a blast chiller at the golf course restaurant. The estimated cost to replace it will be roughly $19,000, which includes sales tax. This item will be amortized over five years. This unit is needed at Kendall's to quickly chill large quantities of prepared foods in advance preparation of banquets as will as items made in large quantities to be served in the restaurant. At present, it takes too long to chill food after preparation without parceling out to speed up the cooling process. This will avoid any health concerns.
Because capital outlay purchases must specifically be identified and funded per City Code 2-803, staff is recommending the budget in the Golf Fund be amended to purchase the blast chiller. A vote of at least four members of the Council is required to amend the budget.
Staff would also like to point out that the funds initially budgeted for a roll in cooler will be reprogrammed for a floor scrubber. The amount of $10,000 was included in the 2018 budget. The floor scrubber is estimated to cost $8,400 and will allow for more thorough and efficient cleaning. The City Code does not require Council action on this item since funds are available in a similar expense account.
Staff recommends authorization of Resolution 18-44, Amending the 2018 Golf budget for the purchase of a blast chiller.
