City Council Regular
Adopt Resolution 18-65 Accepting the Donation of $3,817 from Community Strength Foundation for the Purchase of Replacement Snowflake Decorations
Stephanie Lincoln, Deputy City Clerk
Council is asked to authorize the acceptance of a $3,817 donation from the Community Strength Foundation for the purchase of replacement outdoor snowflake decorations for City Hall.
In November of 2006, thirteen large snowflake decorations were purchased from MainStreet Designs, Inc, located in Champlin, MN, to be placed in front of Coon Rapids City Hall and the Police Department during the winter holiday season. Over the years, many snowflakes have been retired due to the wear and tear of being in the elements, leaving just seven that could still be used. These seven snowflakes are now in disrepair and in need of being retired as well. The Coon Rapids Arts Commission discussed the need for these to be replaced, researched the best options available, and is recommending the purchase of nine new snowflakes.
A quote of $3,817 was obtained from the same local business, MainStreet Designs, Inc, to replace nine of the snowflakes. The vendor has agreed to waive shipping and handling if the order is placed before May 31, 2018. An additional quote of $4,490 + shipping and handling was obtained from Temple Display, located in Oswego, IL.
With the generous donation from Community Strength Foundation, there will be no impact to the 2018 Budget.
Consider Resolution 18-65 accepting the donation of $3,817 from Community Strength Foundation for the purchase of nine replacement outdoor snowflake decorations.
