Unpaid penalties in the amount of $1,000.00 associated with code enforcement activity against the subject property are proposed to be assessed to the property. The property owner has filed an objection to the assessment.
The following chronology relates to the actions and procedures leading to the special assessment in this matter.

On 04/26/2017, Administrative Citation #67724-28289 was issued with one count of exterior storage ($300.00 penalty) and one count of inoperable vehicles with expired registration ($300.00 penalty). The citation established a compliance date of 05/07/2017. The citation was mailed to the owner of record and not returned.

On 05/09/2017, the property was re-inspected and found not in compliance with either count of administrative citation #67724-28289 the $300.00 exterior storage penalty was applied. Abatement was scheduled for 50/10/2017.

05/10/2017, the property was abated of exterior storage items including garbage, clothing, household items, carpet, furniture, brush and misc. junk and debris.

Penalty charged: $300.00 and abatement costs of $626.00 plus $74.00 abatement administrative fee.

On 05/10/2017, while at the property for the abatement, I talked with the property owner about the inoperable and unlicensed vehicles. I told the property owner that if the vehicles were in compliance or removed by 05/15/2017, none of the citation fees for inoperable and unlicensed vehicles would be applied.

On 05/15/2017, the property was re-inspected and found in compliance with the inoperable and unlicensed vehicles. No penalty charged.

Total penalty charged:  $1,000.00
In Case 17-32V, it is requested the Board of Adjustment and Appeals recommend the City Council affirm the $1,000.00 special assessment in its entirety.
