| Staff has put together a PowerPoint presentation. The following topics will be discussed:
- Roles of Board, Council, and Staff
- The Special Assessment and Appeal Process
- Appeals Hearings
There will be opportunity for questions during and after the presentation. Among the topics that staff would like feedback on is the format and amount of content provided at special assessment appeal hearings. In the past, staff has re-summarized most of the information contained in the staff reports, including the underlying citation or abatement costs, as well as a chronology of staff and resident contacts. Depending on the complexity of the case, a significant amount of time can be taken up at the meeting reviewing what is already in the written report. Staff is seeking feedback on whether this approach is useful or if there are changes that can be made to keep the process informative, but more efficient time-wise.
