City Council Regular
Adopt Resolution 19-29 Accepting SHIP Grant Funds
Ryan Gunderson, Recreation Coordinator
The Anoka County Community Health & Environmental Services Department has received a Statewide Health Improvement Partnership(SHIP) grant, which aims to help Minnesotans live healthier more active lives. Council is asked to approve the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership Letter of Agreement with Anoka County and adopt a resolution accepting SHIP grant funding to promote policy, practices, and planning for senior mobility.
City staff met with representatives from the Anoka County Community Health & Environmental Services Department to learn about the 2019 SHIP grant. As part of the SHIP Grant Action Plan, Anoka County included activities associated with implementing policies and practices for senior mobility. Approving the SHIP Letter of Agreement with Anoka County would allow the City to be a community partner in the program and be reimbursed up to $5,000 for authorized program activities. Staff intends to engage the senior population in assessing mobility, with a focus on the Erlandson trail behind the Senior Services Center.
Staff recommends that Council approve the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership Letter of Agreement with Anoka County for the period of November 1, 2018 through October 31, 2019 and adopt Resolution No.19-29 Accepting SHIP Grant Funds for City senior mobility.
