January 2020 Recreation Updates
Staff is working on the 2020 Parks and Recreation Brochure. Programs will be finalized over the next couple weeks with the brochure going to print to be distributed by March 1st.
Warming Houses are back open after a struggle with weather over the holidays. Staff is interested in researching other options to make sure the public has access to skating in the 2021 budget.
Staff is evaluating the processes and policies around banquets at the Civic Center to better serve internal and external customers of the facility.
Currently staff has been directed to not book reservations for Lion's Park until the park is fully evaluated and completed in the spring.
Staff again worked with 1st Graders at Mississippi Elementary in the selection process of the Summer Movie in the Park. The process includes a math lesson in voting and staff shares information about the Parks in Coon Rapids.
Recreation staff will have a more prominent role in the organization and planning of the Love My Pet Fair in 2020. Previous lead staff was from Police and will be retiring this summer.
Preparation for the 2020 Rec on Spot Program are being finalized. Planned parks include Prairie Oaks, Crooked Lake, Woodcrest, Pheasant Ridge, Moor, Riverwind, Riverview Parks and 2-3 apartment complexes.
