Crooked Lake Park
Crooked Lake Park (13180 Crooked Lake Boulevard) is on schedule to open in 2019. There are two new picnic shelters featuring several picnic tables with seating for up to 24 people. Electricity is also available in each shelter. Other renovations to the park include improved tennis courts, restrooms, sand volleyball, trails, new playground, native plantings and an expansion of the parking. Due to high demand, a second fishing pier has been added slightly north of where the old fishing pier was located. The original fishing pier is going to be refurbished and reinstalled at a later time. Additional landscaping will occur in the spring.
Construction at Riverwind Park (11747 Crocus St.) is nearly complete except for some finishing work. Improvements include new basketball and pickleball courts, a playground, trails and open space. Renovations to the Riverwind building were also part of the project, as the City Council and the Parks and Recreation Commission decided to keep the building as a community space. The west side of the building received a new air conditioning unit, new furnace, window and door replacements, LED lighting, new flooring, bathroom upgrades, improved insulation and roof replacement. The entire building will have new exterior stucco rehabilitation and paint. Any repairs to the interior of the east side of the building will be decided at a later time. Additional landscaping and painting of the building and pickleball courts will occur in the spring.
Two meeting rooms with accommodations of up to 35 people, will be available for rent in the Riverwind building starting February 1.
Staff will be meeting with WSB & Associates on December 13th to review 90% design plans for the park. Plans will be presented to the Parks & Recreation Commission on January 14th.
