City Council Regular
Consider Resolution 19-63 Requesting Conveyance of Tax Forfeit Properties, Port Riverwalk
Matt Brown, Economic Development Coordinator
The Council is asked to consider a resolution requesting conveyance of tax forfeit properties in conjunciton with the Port Riverwalk redevelopment project.
At its June 4 meeting, the City's Housing and Redevelopment Authority approved an amendment to a purchase agreement with Centra Homes. One of the items addressed in this amendment involves conveyance of a sliver of tax forfeit property along Coon Rapids Boulevard east of Avocet Street. While roadway easements cover much of this property, City Staff and representatives of the Anoka County Highway Department have determined that the land is not needed for future road projects. Portions of these easements would need to be vacated at a later date. The site plan and plat for Centra Homes' 136-unit detached townhome development that were approved by the City Council earlier this year included this sliver of land. These properties include:
Lot 6, Block 3, Coon Grove, Anoka County, Minnesota
Lot 9, Block 3, Coon Grove, Anoka County, Minnesota
The City Council is asked to adopt a resolution formally requesting that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners resolve to convey the properties with an unrestricted deed to the HRA. Staff will work with Anoka County to convey the property in the coming months. The HRA will be asked to accept a deed at a later date and will then convey the property to Centra Homes.
Staff recommends that the Council adopt Resolution 19-63 requesting the conveyance of tax forfeit properties.
